Credit Crunch Reality
This trip (Nov 08) was a little unusal in that there was just 2 of us, Richard Inman, one of our Trustee's and myself (David).
This was Richards first visit to the work of FHMI on the ground in sierra Leone.
Our main purpose was to assess the impact the world financial crisis was having on the various project areas of our work and where possible address that impact. This included looking at the financial requirements of all the project areas and setting budgets for the coming year.
Inflation continues to be very high especially in food items such as imported rice and Baby formula milk for our 13 babies in Heaven's Garden Baby Rescue Centre. It was very evident that our staff wages had fallen way behind national bench marks.
...for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Luke 10:7
The second challenge to our financial needs the is exchange rate. The local rate is 57% less than it was 3 months ago. Bank transfers are only marginally better. It will mean our monthly transfers will need to be subtancially more just to cover our existing costs. We really would appreciate your prayer support as we bring all this to the feet of our King and Provider.
